integration of employees into processes -
human workflow and portals

Although business process automation aims at fully integrated and automated processes the interactions of employees are wanted and necessary on manifold points of processes. Especially with respect to release processes and complex specialized procedures the employees in charge must be taken into account. Furthermore not all process logic can be realized within reasonable expense.

User interaction as part of Technical Workflows

Functionalities for user interaction support task-oriented processing (Human Workflows) as well as process-driven portals. The user interactions are completely integrated into technical workflows and are generated by executing workflow instances. The Task Generator is a separate module that enables user-interaction configuration with a WYSIWYG editor.

It enables creating forms and user interfaces by drag-and-drop and a comprehensive mapping of dynamic data into forms. Cascading style sheets (CSS) are used to customize the layout.

Controlling Human Workflow with task-lists

Assigning tasks that are generated during process execution is role-based and additionally controllable by an organigram designed in the inubit BPM-Suite.

Thus single tasks can also be assigned to a group of specialists. On the other hand a manager can be detected via an organigram who will be last in the line of task escalation.

Tasks can contain processing times and escalation chains. The task is executed in a web-based task-list that is individually configured for the employee. The task-list structures the tasks of the user and, if needed, holds additional information e.g. for prioritizing the workflow.

Furthermore external applications like MS Office can be integrated. The task-list is provided as part of the Management Cockpit or the inubit Enterprise Portal as well as a customizable servlet.

Creating process driven portals with the inubit BPM-Suite

Based on the very flexible technical workflows in connection with the Task Generator complex portals can be realized.

The technical workflows define the necessary logic to determine the page-order and to exchange the necessary data with backend systems. The Task Generator module defines the individual pages that also contains the elements for portal navigation. Due to the tight connection to business workflows an inubit Enterprise Portal can be created process-driven.

Portal integration via the portlet standard

The task-list of the inubit BPM-Suite as well as the freely definable portal elements are additionally available as JSR 168 compliant portlets. This enables an easy integration into independent portal systems that implement the portlet standard and can provide specific interaction there.

Human Workflow
  • Integration of users via task-list and portal
  • Task-list in the Toolset and as Web component / portlet (JSR 168)
  • Process-driven portals
  • WYSIWYG editor for forms
  • Several types of interaction and escalation procedures
