inubit BPM-Suite replaces Burda legacy systems and consolidates heterogeneous system landscape

Burda Digital Systems gets ready for the future

Berlin, April 21, 2010 – Burda Digital Systems (BDS) is the independent IT company of the Hubert Burda Media Group (HBM). As a technological service provider and consultant, the company faces increasing data volume requirements and needs to integrate a wide range of internal and external applications and systems. That is why the inubit BPM-Suite is replacing the current EDI system. The Business Process Management platform (BPM) not only provides system-compatible integration of existing communication connections but enables BDS employees to quickly and independently implement new applications.

As the central data exchange platform, the inubit BPM-Suite controls, among other things, the information transfer between production-related systems or to SAP ERP and SAP BW, the transfer of purchase orders from E-procurement to external suppliers and the exchange of OBS messages between advertising agencies and publishing houses. In doing so, it supports the secure transfer of data using SFTP, communication with SAP via IDocs (Intermediate Documents), the EDIFACT standards used at HBM, web services, access to various databases and the mailbox system Telebox/X.400. By using the XML message standard and the standardized transformation languages XSLT and XPath, different data formats can be freely transferred to any target format.

In order to be able to flexibly respond to the changing requirements that IT service providers are faced with, BDS employees can independently create and test communications applications with the inubit BPM-Suite. Thanks to the software’s intuitiveness and high conformity with standards, all Microsoft BizTalk applications of Burda Druck GmbH were already successfully migrated to the inubit platform during the migration of the Seeburger WinELKE applications, and the EDI systems of the BDS were thus consolidated further.

The inubit BPM-Suite at BDS handles up to 20,000 messages and files per day. In addition to the software's power, the possibility to independently implement new requirements has proven particularly popular: “All innovations and extensions can be implemented by using the inubit BPM-Suite alone, because there is essentially no further development taking place in the legacy systems for a number of reasons,” summarizes Thomas Meier, the person responsible for the project at BDS. He adds: “With the inubit platform, we have chosen a solution that will enable us to handle the increasing data volume and integration requirements for various internal and external applications and systems over the next few years. As an IT service provider, we have thus created a basis for being able to offer our customers a reliable service for the electronic exchange of data.”
